I had two c-sections when I was 34 and 38. I wanted to get fit since I was 14 years old. My Mom and I were born with Kidney Disease, and I watched her balloon to 300 pounds and go on a diet at 63 years old. That's when I realized if I don't change now, I never will, and I have my Mom's genetics.
On my 40th birthday, June 2, 2018, I began to change what I ate and started working out with some dumbbells. Within 6 weeks, I saw the white light. In January 2019, I hired my first coach to compete in a bodybuilding show, which I quit 8 weeks out because I didn't want to give up alcohol or the fun food I was eating every single weekend.
Why do you want to lose belly fat? Is it because Instagram told you so? Or because you are being made fun of at home? Are you laughing now? Good. Because the why is what's going to make you do the hard work. If your 'why' is unclear to you, then you won't be able to do the job.
If your kid doesn't understand why you're frustrated with them, then the kid doesn't know how to do the work that makes you feel happy & the kid struggles, which in turn makes you struggle. No one has a clear idea. Understanding of the WHY!
Write your why!
Now you need to understand the why.
How:
Build muscle by eating 1 gram of protein per current body weight. Example: 150 pounds today × 1 = 150 grams.
If that's hard, then how many can you do? The next day, try to do a little more & more.
Lift weights to build muscle by starting with a dumbbell that feels relatively heavy & work your way up to the point where that dumbbell eventually feels light, at which point you will need to increase the weight. If you need a workout plan. It's inside my app, open here
That's it!
Nutrition is 80% of the hard work. Chicken is nutritious & chicken sausage is processed. They are not the same, but they are both protein & they are both food. It may not be very clear.
Bread, potato chips, and broccoli are all carbs. Low-carb diets can be confusing when healthy carbs are still considered carbs.
Fat, like avocado oil, is healthy, & bacon is also fatty, but not in the same way as avocado. Both are fat. Both are food. Both are high in calories & they are still not the same.
Learning is a curveball. Reading every day and practicing what you read is also required.
To do all is overwhelming. To do nothing is frustrating. If you want to stop guessing, then join me in my app. I was born with kidney disease, and this is all I do. I am not interested in peptides, Ozempic, or any other new developments in 2025.
Pick something & don't stop that thing until it feels easy. If it were that easy, then the entire world would be doing it.
Last but not least. Humans have limiting beliefs.
For example, if you grew up in a household where your parents said words like, you're this and that and you will never be anything better than you are now, " you may believe that you will never get fit, no matter how much you try. This is where coaching can help you discover those limiting beliefs and start the healing process. You can read up on limiting beliefs online or learn more on YouTube.
I believe in you. Do you believe in yourself?
If you're ready to start working, join me inside my app, where you will complete the workouts, follow the nutrition plan, listen to my audiobook, 'Eat Your Way to Fit,' and stay committed to yourself. Open the app here
PS. I never expected to become a certified personal trainer or a certified nutrition coach. Still, after making a commitment to myself on Facebook in June 2018 and sharing my weekly progress, women started asking what I was doing, and it grew from there.
I know exactly how you feel, and the best advice I can offer is this. No one can explain what to do in one email, not even in one call or one video. You must become your own student, just as you teach your children how to attend school and complete their own homework. I can't do your homework, I can't see your homework, and it is your responsibility to take action on YOURSELF. I can guide you and support you, but I'm not able to do the laundry for you from my house. It's you against yourself. Each day, you must strive to do more than you did the day before.
